African Tribal

Happy Saturday!

Today's design is a design that I did days ago but wasn't happy with so I delayed posting it. I figured I'll post it anyway because I really liked the idea for this manicure. I googled "African tribal prints" and drew my inspiration from all the different pictures.

Before removing the manicure I showed my sister and she was all "oh it looks very African-y!" and I decided that I'd post it if she could tell what it was without me telling her!

For this manicure I started with China Glaze Starboard as the green base. Then taking my nail art brush and Zoya Creamy I created the lines as if they were capitals X's all connecting together at the tips. After that I used a thin nail art brush and created the black lines the same way. The green will peek through using this method. I created the red stripes with Zoya Rekha

I absolutely loved the idea of this manicure but I just don't like the way I executed it. But the perfect manicure really doesn't exist, right?

Balloon Nail Art Fail

So the other day I was really excited to get started on this manicure. I had asked everyone on my Twitter to send me pictures that I could get inspired from and yet somehow my manicure still ended up looking awful!

I mean,  I liked the idea. It started out really cute and I was all "OMG, this looks great!" and then I just kept going and going and then we have this...

It's okay to laugh along with me, this is pretty bad!

Not just the weirdly shaped balloons, but the strings aren't done right and the "designs" on the balloons are also really bad. I don't understand what happened when I sat down to do this.

The base color by the way is Zoya Robyn, this is the best thing about the manicure, the gorgeous background color.

Here's the picture that inspired me, as you can see, I did not do this picture proud. Thanks to  jamieleelu on Twitter, who tweeted me this picture. I will be re-doing this.

I am not happy with the way it turned out at all.

Patchwork Attempt

I wasn't sure if I wanted to post this since it's not my proudest moment, but I thought I'd post it anyway. I was inspired by this manicure by Chloe's Nails, who is the master of tape manicures.
Hers, of course, is better than mine but I'll cut myself some slack since this was my first time.

My biggest issue with this manicure is the placement. I got it all wrong so it ended up looking weird.

But for this manicure I used L.A. Colors Black Velvet (black), Revlon Strobe (pink), and Ulta Deck The Halls (glitter).
I'm starting to think that this glitter may be a holographic glitter. I never noticed until I used it the other day...

I really do love patchwork manicures so I'll be re-doing and re-posting this soon.
I hope you all enjoy your day!

Valentines Nail Art Fail

I don't even know what I was going for with this look. I guess I wanted something interesting, pretty, but still simple. Instead I got messy and ugly.
I tried to clean it up after these pictures but I still didn't like it.

To do this look, I used...

Pure Ice Jamaica Me Crazy- I used this bright pink for the stripes on the base of my nails. That was the messiest part of this look.
Nicole by OPI Light A Candle- Gorgeous color! I applied this metallic lavender color as the base color. I used this for another manicure recently, but I used it again since it's gorgeous with just one coat.
Art Deco in White, Black, Gold Glitter- I used the white for the stripes at the tips of my nails (see second picture). Then I took the black nail art pen and dotted three dots next to the white. The gold glitter nail art was striped down the center of all my nails.
Professional Nail Care Top Coat- I made sure all of the polish was completely dry before I added this top coat.

The idea for this manicure was nice, but it did not translate well.
At least I can now learn from this mistake.
