Gradient Faux Bois Nail Art

Have you ever had this great idea in your head but when you go to do it things just don't translate as well? That's kind of what happened with this design. I mean I love the way it turned out, don't get me wrong, but I expected it to look a lot more like wood and not so abstract. You know? Yeah, you know. ;)

Regardless of it not looking much like wood, I do love these colors together!
And the base color...just pure love.
For this manicure I used Zoya Carey as the gray base. Using a thin nail art brush, I created each detail to somewhat resemble "faux bois" (fake wood). For these details I used Bondi Brick Road (yellow), Sally Hansen Green with Envy (lime green), and American Apparel Peacock (teal). I finished with topcoat.

The overall look is so bright and summer-y! I can't help but love it.

Rustic Embroidery | Sally Hansen I Heart Nail Art Contest Entry

Finally a new post! Sorry for the delay guys.

Today I'm sharing my entry to Sally Hansen's I Heart Nail Art contest! This contest is pretty fun, there will be themes for the nail art design within the entry period and the finalists of each theme compete for $2,000!

For more info and to enter, click here. And say you want to just browse...well pretty please vote for my design!

For this manicure I used American Apparel Peacock as the base and did a subtle, non-precise sponging of Sally Hansen Innocent Nude. Then, using a fairly thin nail art brush  I created the floral and embroidery details with Zoya Ziv.

The theme for the contest is runway. My inspiration for came from the lovely red carpet of Marchesa Spring 2013:

What do you think? Did the dress translate onto the nails nicely? And don't forget to vote for my design if you like it!

Leafy Abstract | Featuring Born Pretty 15 Pc Nail Art Brushes and Review

Good morning!

Today's post is a combination of nail art and a Born Pretty store review. They were kind enough to send me their 15pc Nail Art Brush Set. Can you believe these are my very first nail art brushes? I have been using striping polishes for the longest.

Also you can use the code GFL91 for 10% off your entire Born Pretty order, yay!

For this manicure I used Zoya Neely as the light green base. I used a small nail art brush (see below) and American Apparel Peacock to create the leaves and different patterns. My inspiration came from this and this picture. Then I took a small dotting tool (see below) and created the tiny dots you see. Top coat finished off this design.

I used the small dotting tool and angled striper brush for this design. Look how small that dotting tool is!

So what do I think about the brushes you ask...
