Peacock Accents

 Last night I was feeling really indesicive about what I wanted to do with my nails. I was mainly stuck on skittles, Peacock feathers, penguins, or color blocking. After a while I finally decided on Peacock accents. The idea for this manicure came from this picture. I found it floating around the blogosphere so I'm not sure who to credit for it.

I gave this two tries. The first time was nice, but still wasn't doing it for me:

Excuse my nubbin (index finger) and cuticles in these pictures. I was forced to trim my nails short and acetone really doesn't like my cuticles.

For this manicure I used Zoya Breezi as the base of the accent fingers and Art Deco Gold Glitter on the index, middle, and pinky. I don't own a glittery gold so I had to compromise and use an Art Deco polish as a regular polish. Anyway, I drew the feather in Art Deco Black and went back and traced it with China Glaze First Mate. I filled in the ends of the feather with Art Deco Gold Glitter and added a blue rhinestone from Born Pretty.

I didn't really like how yellow toned the gold was so I removed the gold fingers and did a color block pattern instead. I couldn't help myself. I've been wanting to try color block for ages:

With top coat to smooth things out...

For this manicure I again used Zoya Breezi as the base of the accent fingers. For the feathers, I followed the same steps as the first manicure, except instead of using gold on the end of the feather I used Zoya Charla. For the color blocking I used Wet n Wild French White as the base. I went in with my Art Deco Black and created random lines to form different sized squares/rectangles. I used China Glaze Pelican Gray, Zoya Breezi, and China Glaze First Mate to fill them in. After it dried completely I applied top coat.

The second one's probably my favorite, It's also the manicure I'm wearing now. (;

P.S. In one week, my giveaway will end. So make sure you've entered for your chance to win one of two prizes!  Click on the picture in the top right sidebar to enter.

  11. Love those feathers! I've been thinking of working on a peacock feather inspired nail art myself. Looks great! I think I like the first one with the gold best.
